As I was working on the car today, I kept seeing places where there was more filler than I’d thought there was. I need a car I can drive, so we’re not doing a full body replacement thing right now, and chances are I’ll be slapping on some Bondo myself (though we’ll weld whatever is possible). There was a song on Car Talk yesterday called “Bondo Queen,” and I figure it’s going to be my anthem for a while. It’s by a duo called Nice & Naughty. Unfortunate name, but clever little song. Reminds me of Uncle Bonsai.

I just bumbled onto your blog while looking for information on my own restoration project … a 1962 Mk II Sprite.
Fortunately for me my project wasn’t quite as far-gone and is further down the restoration road than yours, but I will be following your restoration with interest, so keep up the posts. I really love seeing these old cars come back to life and I wish I had documented my restoration as you are doing.
Trust me when I say it will all be worth it the first time you get the old girl out on a nice day. The car is more fun than a wagonload of puppies.
Good luck.
